JIMMY CLIFF

and

TOOTS

THE

MAYTALS

IN CONCERT

It’ll be a return to the land of the palm-trees and mixing your lime in your coconut as RATW repeats an hour of live reggae music from Toots & The Maytals and Jimmy Cliff; in addition, there’ll be an intriguing interview with Jimmy Cliff, the man who helped make reggae music popular in America way back when. Both concerts came to us through the facilities of WBCN-FM in Boston, and now that reggae has become more popular than ever in America, we reckon that it’s time to give a listen to these two fine artists once again.

GENESIS IN CONCERT

A memorable hour with a band that’s captured both the physical as well as intellectual music lovers of America—Genesis. Their recent tour was acclaimed from coast to coast, as the band added Bill Bruford to augment the music, the combination resulted in some of the most musically satisfying shows of the year. We’re pleased to be devoting the entire program to the music of Genesis, recorded live in Cleveland by our friends at WMMS-FM.

IAN ANDERSON

Jethro Tull has become one of rock’s most durable bands over the last eight years and one of the most well-loved. Among his other talents, Ian Anderson is one of popular music’s most thoughtful and articulate participants, and he’ll be joining RATW for an extensive conversation about both the top side and the underside of rock—the business, the artists, the music. Carrying things along will be the unique music of Jethro Tull. A most noteworthy program.
